About the role
The TAFE Gippsland Student Support Services team’s primary purpose is to ensure students are supported in their time with TAFE Gippsland. They do this by proactively promoting wellbeing and working with students on an individual basis to provide appropriate support services based on student needs. The Student Support Intake Advisor provides support and assistance to respond to time sensitive support requests. You will act as the initial point of contact (intake) for student and staff enquiries and requests. You have responsibility for linking students to the appropriate internal support services which are inclusive of library services, disability support, support with learning needs, health and wellbeing support, assistance with financial issues, and referral to mental health and accommodation services. This role is a 12-month parental leave backfill position and the end date is subject to the incumbents return to work. A six-month probationary period applies to the role.
About you
You have experience in the provision of support services including either learning, disability, and or wellbeing and can triage, prioritise and meet tight timeframes whilst maintaining composure. You are an expert communicator with the ability to build a rapid rapport with people. You have a proactive approach to your work, a demonstrated ability to be a ‘quick thinker’ and capacity to work well under pressure.
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant further education qualifications (e.g. Education, Social and Community Welfare, Counselling, or Case Management)
- Mental Health First Aid and/or ASIST certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience in the provision of support services (e.g. learning, disability, and/or wellbeing)
Mandatory requirements
- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (not older than 12 months old) Current Driver’s Licence
