About the role

This is a rare opportunity to teach Certificate II in Horticulture through an on-Country, workplace delivery model focused on bushfoods. You will work closely with First Nations learners, Elders, and local organisations to deliver practical, land-based training that is deeply connected to community and culture.

We’re looking for someone with strong horticulture or conservation knowledge, a hands-on approach, and the ability to support learners from underrepresented backgrounds. The right person will be comfortable teaching outdoors, travelling to offsite training locations, and contributing to real-world land management and bushfoods projects.

This is more than a teaching job, it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful and lasting.

What you’ll need

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to enrol and complete within an agreed timeframe)

  • Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture or Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with First Nations communities or learners

  • Strong practical skills in horticulture, bushfoods, or land management

  • Understanding of barriers faced by underrepresented learner cohorts

  • Ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and work respectfully with others

  • A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to travel to on-Country and offsite locations

Why work with us?

  • Be part of the Horticulture team, delivering meaningful training alongside community

  • Support First Nations-led learning on Country, with a focus on bushfoods and land care

  • Work outdoors on real projects in collaboration with Elders and local organisations

  • Join a supportive, grounded team at TAFE Gippsland committed to impact over hype

What’s In It for You?

  • Competitive salary and excellent employment conditions including generous Long Service Leave provisions

  • Paid Parental Leave provisions

  • Professional development opportunities to support career growth as a trainer

  • Fitness Passport Gym & Pool Membership

  • Supportive team environment where your on-the-ground knowledge is valued.
