About the role

As a Community Safety Supervisor, you’ll lead a dedicated team of Community Safety Officers, focused on enhancing the city's safety, security, and amenity. You will lead, manage and develop your Community Safety Team to ensure operational excellence and alignment with operational targets.

You’ll be responsible for guiding your team in delivering high-quality, assertive compliance programs that improve the perception of safety and effectively manage complex issues. This includes overseeing dynamic and adaptable enforcement programs, fostering a supportive and safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

You'll engage with the community, addressing concerns, providing guidance, and collaborating with Victoria Police and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. Your leadership will inspire and mentor your team, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle various situations and deliver quality results.

Joining the City Safety, Security and Amenity branch means becoming part of a bold, values-led team that responds to real issues and contributes to Melbourne’s pulse. From ensuring community safety to enhancing public spaces, we’re committed to making Melbourne a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming city for everyone.

Why join Team Melbourne?

Located on the traditional lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, Melbourne is globally recognised as one of the most liveable, diverse, and dynamic cities.

At the heart of it all is the City of Melbourne – a passionate, purpose-driven organisation where your work truly matters. As part of Team Melbourne, you’ll help deliver what’s most important to the people who live, work, study, visit and invest in our great city.

We’re proud champions of diversity, committed to continuous improvement, and driven by a shared vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.

This is more than just a role – it’s your chance to make a real impact, contribute to something bigger, and shape Melbourne’s future alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

About you

You bring a strong background in community safety, enforcement, and public engagement, along with proven leadership experience guiding a high-performing team. Known for managing complex situations and making decisions under pressure, you excel in interpreting legislative frameworks and working independently.

Your top-notch customer service and stakeholder skills allow you to handle interactions with tact and courtesy. You remain calm and composed in challenging situations, and your excellent communication skills help you connect with a broad range of stakeholders.

Physically fit and ready for the role's demands, you bring energy and dedication to every task. Your professionalism, approachability, and collaborative spirit help create a safe and welcoming environment, making Melbourne a better place for everyone.
