Who We Are:
The Statewide Vision Impairment Services team supports students who are blind or have low vision from early childhood through to Year 12 across Queensland. We work in partnership with schools, educators, families, and specialists to provide expert advice, assistive technology, accessible learning materials, and professional development. Our goal is to ensure every student has equitable access to the curriculum and the skills they need to succeed, both in the classroom and beyond.
Step Into Your Next Chapter:
Apply techniques and solutions, as agreed with teaching colleagues, to meet statewide requirements of supporting students who are blind or have low vision.
Interpret legislation, regulations and other guideline material relating to the operations and functions of the department and SVIS.
Supervise and manage the Blind and Vision Impairment (BVI) collection of the Statewide Trial and Loans Equipment program including coordination of workflow processes, keeping of appropriate records, arranging repairs and actioning requests approved by the Advisory Visiting Teacher (AVT), Assisted Technologies.
Provide guidance, training and advice on the use of BVI technologies for teaching, learning and professional development, including the management of an on-demand support service.
