About the Role:
As a member of the Strategic Communications department, the User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) Designer will support Energy Safe's commitment to improving digital and service experiences for both the Victorian energy industry and the public.
The UX/UI Designer will contribute to the design and delivery of user-centred solutions that align with regulatory requirements, organisational goals, and community needs. This role will work closely with a dedicated Content Writer and a multidisciplinary Content Design Lead. Key duties include uplifting internal and external user journeys and experiences by applying design thinking to enhance public safety outcomes, regulatory compliance and improve engagement with Energy Safe's digital platforms and services.
You will contribute by:
- Develop and maintain Energy Safe's design system.
- Conduct customer and user research, persona creation and journey mapping to inform design decisions and validate outcomes
- Develop wireframes and UI designs that align with accessibility standards and responsive design principles in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts and other internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Content Design Lead, other members of the Strategic Communications team and stakeholders to develop strategies and implement fluid user experiences.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, content writers, developers and subject matter experts in concept planning and delivery of effective design solutions.
- Assisting in information architecture review and uplift of multiple platforms across Energy Safe.
- Apply evidence-based learnings and user-centred approach to promote a culture of continuous improvement and best-practice experiences.
- Continual review and iteration of customer and user journeys.
- Maintain awareness of emerging design trends, tools, and technologies, and apply relevant innovations to enhance user experience.
- Ensure design outputs are consistent with Energy Safe's brand, strategic objectives, and digital governance frameworks.
- Assist with general webmaster duties (CMS use/no coding).
To be successful, you'll have:
- Strong UI design skills, with at least 3-5 years' experience working in experience design (XD) roles.
- Professional Figma and Creative Cloud skills with the ability to adapt to new design tools.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into intuitive experiences.
- Experience using content management systems, with the ability to adjust to new platforms as needed.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, self-motivate and effectively manage workload and priorities.
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability and willingness to assist others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative in seeking, identifying, and resolving issues.
- Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working in government or regulatory environments. (Desired)
- Experience with Human-Centred Design practices as outlined by the Victorian Government for public service. (Desired)
- Experience creating, or assisting in the creation or upkeep of, a robust design system. (Desired)
