Primary objective
Undertake a range of operational workforce relations tasks to support the delivery of responsive and client focused workforce relations services,
including providing effective and timely responses and practical human resource management assistance to client agency.
Context statement
Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse environment.
The Workforce Operations and Partnerships team provides support across a range of areas including Employee Relations, Performance and
Conduct, Recruitment and General HR Support.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice and assistance as the first point of contact for general HR related queries, responding to client requests in a timely manner
ensuring quality service delivery.
2. Administer and coordinate a broad range of HR actions to ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation.
3. Develop and maintain good working relationships with client agency managers and employees to investigate and resolve less complex
workforce services queries or escalate the matter for resolution.
4. Assist senior team members with the research and analysis of client agency HR matters and the preparation of less complex correspondence,
participating in and contributing to HR projects and initiatives.
5. Operate the various HR related computer applications and software packages, providing guidance and on the job training on these to other
staff in the team to improve service delivery.
6. Work efficiently independently and as part of a team to support the effective operation of the team and work unit.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Good working knowledge of human resource functions, job evaluation, employment legislation and the principles of human resource
management, with knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of HR policies, practices and delegations.
2. Excellent customer service skills with demonstrated experience in delivering professional HR services as a first point of contact, responding to
and triaging service requests.
3. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills, and demonstrated capacity to interact with people at all levels and from
diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently or closely with senior team members and clients, maintaining confidentiality and resolving
sensitive issues.
5. Sound written communication skills to draft routine correspondence, policy, procedures and guidelines.
6. Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills to manage own workflow, balance competing priorities and promptly
finalise tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Demonstrated proficiency operating a variety of computer and software packages.
8. Demonstrated ability to administer and coordinate a broad range of HR actions and Job Evaluation System to ensure compliance with relevant
employment legislation
9. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,
accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect
Desirable
1. Working knowledge of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act and the Job Evaluation Services Framework, or ability to quickly
acquire.
