What we are looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ever-changing dynamic team within the Mid-Western Regional Council.
This role is full-time, based on site in Rylstone, with the requirement to work in Mudgee as necessary (i.e. during periods of leave; workload requirements; staff meetings etc).
The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3,424.40- $3,854.20 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $89,034- $100,209 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
Key Accountabilities
Asset Maintenance
- Ensure the day to day operation of the Fleet Workshop and repairs and infield servicing is undertaken effectively and safely.
- Ensure that the schedule of annual RTA inspections and RFS servicing is undertaken given consideration to WHS issues, operational needs and maintenance requirements.
- To achieve scheduled servicing requirements, repairs and maintenance to Council plant, vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, industry standards and safe work method statements.
- Apply problem solving techniques by applying standards, established practices and procedures, or operating instructions.
- Attend after-hours call out duty (on-call roster) / overtime when required.
- Participate and contribute to an effective and productive team.
- To provide support to other Council workshop locations as directed
- Provide technical support to all team members as required
- Be responsible for the proper care and operations of any plant or machinery placed under the responsibility of, or allocated for repair to, the position holder.
- Ensure that high quality standards of workmanship are maintained.
Workshop Administration and Communication
- Leadership and supervision of small teams of tradesmen and/or contractors and/or apprentices performing workshop related tasks.
- Ensure on the job training of apprentice plant mechanics to assist their understanding and development and to facilitate their achievement of trade qualifications.
- Provide information to Fleet Coordinator and/or Fleet Admin on the progress of work tasks to ensure a high level of service, limited downtime and maintaining quality assurance.
- Complete relevant paperwork and provide input into the Fleet Management Software and other workshop databases.
- Model behaviours that reinforce open and honest communication with stakeholders and peers.
- Project and promote the image of Council as being efficient, courteous and customer-based focus.
- Conduct staff performance appraisals and address any performance issues effectively and in a timely manner.
- To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement.
