The Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) is committed to providing leadership in safety and quality to improve health care for patients in NSW. The primary focus of the CEC is to promote and support improved clinical care, safety and quality across the NSW public health system, and to meet functions specified by the Minister for Health. What you'll be doing
The Aboriginal Patient Safety Project Officer supports the Clinical Excellence Commission's (CEC) important role in strengthening the NSW Health's service patient safety and improvement agenda. The Aboriginal Patient Safety Project Officer provides expert advice in relation to clinical safety issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who access NSW Health services.

Remuneration: $127,150.00 - $144,444.00 per annum, plus superannuation

Selection Criteria
- Applicants must be a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14 of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977 NSW. Aboriginal applicants must demonstrate Aboriginality in addition to addressing the selection criteria below.
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant area, or equivalent work experience deemed relevant by the employer.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture, and the social and emotional needs experienced by Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the NSW public health system, including a comprehensive understanding of clinical service provision.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient safety and clinical quality with particular reference to Aboriginal consumers, families and communities across NSW.
- Experience in managing and ensuring project outcomes are delivered within agreed time frames.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including excellent written and oral communication skills, and computer literacy.
- High level organisational skills, including a capacity to prioritise competing interests and meet tight Deadlines.
