Primary objective
Deliver professional front office services including actioning student and parent enquiries and providing administrative support to
the Business Manager, the Principal and teaching staff in a busy and demanding school environment. This includes supporting
students and families to understand the learning opportunities on offer at the college, supporting students to enrol in the college
and using databases to manage student records and generate student reports and timetables.
Context statement
Centralian Senior College provides education to approximately 400 students in Year 10, 11 and 12 and is co-located with Charles
Darwin University. Around 50% of the student population is Aboriginal with 14%born overseas. Students at the college complete
the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) and all students participate in Vocational Education and
Training opportunities as a part of their NTCET. The college uses SAMS, Compass and Timetabling Solutions to manage student
records, record student attendance, generate student timetables and report on student achievement
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Perform word processing, data entry, administrative and other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
2. Undertake data entry and retrieval of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and
computerized student records.
3. Work with school and department staff to ensure the integrity, accuracy and currency of management and timetabling
systems to extract student and school data to assist with strategic analysis.
4. Deliver professional front office reception activates including answering calls, greeting visitors and managing the hire of
school facilities.
5. Provide administrative support to the front office, the Principal and teaching staff including word processing, data entry,
administrative and other tasks as directed by the Business Manager.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to develop and maintain working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and work closely with team
members to achieve results as an effective front office unit.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.
3. Demonstrated experience in information organisation, data processing, data retrieval and working with timetabling and
student management software to maintain accurate records and information transfer between systems.
4. Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including the effective use of various office applications such as databases and
spreadsheets.
5. Ability to monitor own performance and tasks against expected outcomes, deadlines, whilst in a busy work environment.

1. Current First Aid Certificate
