Adviser – Cyber Security Risk and Advisory

  • Great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual.

  • Join a global organisation at the forefront of mining.

  • Opportunity to influence the way that Rio Tinto manages cyber risk across both IT and Operational Technology environments.

  • Work in an environment where people are valued and respected.

  • Permanent role based in Perth, where flexible work arrangements are normal.

About the role

We are looking for an Adviser - Cyber Risk & Advisory to join a global team to contribute to the improvement of Rio Tinto’s cyber security posture through leading cyber security risk assessments and the provision of pragmatic cyber security guidance for identified risks and controls.

This role forms part of a team within Rio Tinto’s Cyber Security function. It has a clear focus on providing cyber security risk advice and guidance in a practical business context to enable continued innovation and support of Rio Tinto’s digital mining future. This role is a great opportunity to provide security risk management across a broad range of technologies, from legacy systems to state of the art industrial automation solutions.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cyber Risk & Advisory and working in a collaborative, and supportive environment within our global Cyber Security team, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing effective and pragmatic specialist cyber security guidance for IT and Operational Technology projects both with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Conducting cyber security risk assessments of new and existing technologies to identify risks and appropriate controls which balance security and operability.

  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships to support the broader organisation in adopting Group Standards, Procedures and Guidelines related to Cyber Security.

  • Contributing to internal processes, initiatives within Cyber Risk and Advisory, and delivery of the Cyber Security strategy.

  • Supporting the execution of targeted annual risk reviews of key functions, technologies and systems within the Rio Tinto landscape.

What you’ll bring

  • Practical experience in a cyber security-based role, preferably in a large organisation, or a similar ‘asset intensive’ industry.

  • Experience identifying and understanding cyber security risk, preferably in both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) contexts.

  • Experience communicating technical concepts to a range of audiences, including non-technical and senior stakeholders.

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.

  • Familiarity with some of the cyber security industry frameworks used for identifying and managing cyber security risk (e.g. NIST, ISO, NERC CIP, ISA/IEC etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to build credibility and collaboration.

What we offer

  • We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you, including requests for part-time hours.

  • Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you have helped the world progress.

  • An excellent base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive program.

  • Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family.

  • Attractive share ownership plan.

  • Extensive salary sacrifice & salary packaging options.

  • Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions.

  • Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more).

  • Domestic relocation if required.

Where you'll be working
