About the role

Barwon South West Homelessness Network Coordinator
Temporary part time until 30/01/2026
32 hours per week

Colac Area Health is a values-based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.

The Networker position plays a significant role in the development and implementation of current and future sector wide reforms of the homelessness service system through facilitation and support to the Barwon and the South West Homelessness Network (BSWHN). The role is auspiced by the Colac Area Health.

The role of the BSWHN and Network Co‐ordinator is to assist and support homelessness funded agencies across the Barwon and South West DFFH regions to critically engage with ongoing policy and service development changes, and to use the evidence gathered by the sector in their service delivery to advocate for an effective resolution to homelessness at a regional & State‐wide level.

The BSWHN is structured in a way that enables and supports the inclusion of membership in the Network via regular meetings, reports, information sharing and consultation through the Local Area Service Networks (LASNs) which comprise all homelessness funded providers in the catchment areas.

What’s required?
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development or related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience and strong understanding of issues relating to Housing and Homelessness
  • Experience in developing strategic plans, operational objectives, and executive level secretarial support
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably in the not-for-profit and/or government sectors.
  • Experience in liaison and collaborative work with diverse stakeholders, including government, community organizations, and statewide collaborative networks
  • Demonstrable experience in community services sector development and delivery
  • Demonstrable high level leadership and change management skills
  • High level writing and communication skills and an ability to promptly prepare reports and other forms of documentation
  • Highly developed ability to consult and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to facilitate regional forums/workshops/meetings and event management skills
  • Capacity to advise on the development of innovative program responses to service gaps
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high level critical analysis of policy and service development frameworks
  • Current driver’s license

  • A communication style that is open and focused on problem solving and identification of strategies/mechanisms to progress resolution of issues.
