About the role:
CPCS are a child/young person and family/carers trauma-specific service responding to violence, abuse and neglect. This position provides counselling and psychoeducation to children and young people, as well as their parents and caregivers. The overarching purpose is to work towards safety from harm for the child/young person and their family members (including parents and other children/young people). The focus interventions being to maintain the child or young person in their family where possible with the intention to prevent recurrence of abuse, as well as to prevent placement breakdown, and assist families to address the impacts and effects of violence, abuse and neglect. Counselling with children and adults/caregivers will be the core task of the position, however co-ordination of health service delivery to the child and advocacy for client interests within the child protection response will also be significant responsibilities. CPCS clinicians also provide consultation, support and education and training for health workers on child protection issues and concerns.
Violence, Abuse and Neglect services are provided under the Priority Populations Program (PPP) within the MLHD. These services are integrated and work alongside each other to collaborate with joint projects, training and joint work with clients and families as required
There are currently two opportunities with the CPCS team;
A permanent part-time position of four days a week (32 hours) based in Wagga Wagga
A temporary full-time position of maternity leave backfill until 27.03.2026 this position can be based out of Griffith, Leeton or Narrandera
