Dental Practice Manager (with Chairside Assisting) – Full-time / Part-time

Are you a hands-on leader with experience in both practice management and dental assisting? Our busy and growing dental clinic in Tarneit is seeking a Dental Practice Manager who can confidently manage operations while also providing occasional chairside support to our dentists.

About the Role
In this dual-role, you will lead the administrative, financial, and compliance operations of the practice and assist clinically when needed. This includes managing staff, improving systems, maintaining compliance, and supporting the clinical team with chairside duties during busy periods or staff shortages.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Management
- Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and performance targets
- Recruit, train, and manage non-clinical staff; foster a collaborative team environment
- Handle accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and OH&S requirements
- Oversee practice software and hardware, coordinate maintenance and IT support
- Maintain a high standard of patient service and privacy
Dental Assisting (as required)
- Assist dentists chairside with procedures including restorations, extractions, impressions, and sterilisation
- Set up and clean down surgeries in compliance with infection control protocols
- Take and process digital X-rays
- Manage sterilisation room and equipment
- Maintain dental supplies and stock levels
- Provide compassionate and professional support to patients during treatment
About You
Essential:
- Experience in dental practice management and/or healthcare business administration
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation procedures
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and dental software systems
- Completion of an accredited bookkeeping course or strong financial acumen
- Excellent leadership, communication, and time management skills
Desirable:
- Experience with dental practice software (e.g., Dental4Windows, Core Practice)
- CPR/Triage training
- Knowledge of Medicare, DVA, and private health fund billing
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, aged care, and CALD communities
