Job Description
About the Opportunity:
As Outages Lead, you will play a pivotal role in delivering one of Western Australia’s most transformative energy infrastructure projects. You’ll oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all outage- related activities across Acciona’s scope on the Clean Energy Link North (CELN) project—from transmission line construction and underground cable installation to substation upgrades.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex challenges, and values collaboration. You’ll work closely with diverse teams—including engineers, construction crews, subcontractors, and stakeholders like Western Power—to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of outages that enable energisation, commissioning, and integration of new infrastructure into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of outage plans for transmission line energisation, underground cable commissioning, and substation upgrades—ensuring clarity, safety, and alignment with project goals.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the corridor to deliver outage scopes safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Lead the execution of outages, ensuring all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and within the scheduled window.
- Provide on-site leadership during outages, including real-time decision-making and issue resolution.
- Communicate outage plans, progress, and restoration timelines to project managers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Facilitate outage review meetings to assess performance and identify improvements.
- Ensure all outage activities comply with industry regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for outage-related hazards.
- Build strong working relationships with Western Power and other stakeholders to coordinate grid access, switching activities, and commissioning protocols.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in outage coordination or construction project management within the power or utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, grid operations, and outage management procedures.
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and outage tracking software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent outages.
