Position Overview
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker to support a client located in Kensington. This role requires someone with strong English communication skills, the ability to remain calm and resourceful in challenging situations, and ideally with experience in mental health support.
You will assist the client with daily living, personal care and social support while also encouraging independence and community participation.
Client’s Support Hours
We are seeking staff who have availability across the following roster:
- Monday: 7–9am, 9–5pm
- Tuesday: 7–9am, 7–9pm
- Wednesday: 7–9am, 9–1pm, 7–9pm
- Thursday: 7–9am, 7–9pm
- Friday: 7–9am, 9–1pm, 7–9pm
- Saturday: 7–9am, 7–9pm
- Sunday: 7–9am, 7–9pm
Candidates who are flexible and available to cover most of these shifts will be prioritised.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care and support in line with the client’s NDIS goals.
- Assist with daily routines, personal care, and mealtime support.
- Support community participation and encourage social connections.
- Remain attentive to the client’s mental health needs and provide support with patience and empathy.
- Maintain clear, professional documentation, including progress notes and care updates.
- Think proactively and work independently in situations where quick decision-making is required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in disability or mental health support (preferred).
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Mental Health, or equivalent (desirable).
- Strong English communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport (preferred).
- Empathetic, patient, and able to respond calmly in different situations.
