What you’ll do
As part of the Global Health, Compliance and Compensation Team, you will analyse health assessments, assist with illness and injury prevention strategies, and ensure projects adhere to occupational health frameworks. Additional responsibilities include oversight of supplier contracts, managing health surveillance programs, and supporting critical initiatives like Health and Hygiene system implementation. If you excel in occupational health systems, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, this role will give you the platform to make a significant difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Thiess Health & Wellbeing Strategy by contributing to initiatives promoting positive physical, mental, and social health.
- Interpret NSW Order 43 and other health assessments to deliver risk-based advice and ensure compliance across projects.
- Execute health surveillance programs in collaboration with relevant providers, ensuring standards and regulatory benchmarks are met.
- Advise on and manage pre-employment medicals, routine and triggered medicals, health management plans (IHMP/HMP) in alignment with statutory and internal requirements.
- Provide specialist advice on illness, injury, and health management in accordance with best practices.
- Support compliance by assisting in implementing a Global OH Management System, integrated with OHS frameworks.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We are seeking a highly skilled professional with formal qualifications in Occupational Health Management (required) and at least 5 years’ experience in an occupational health-related role, including medical case management and experience in the mining sector. A professional certification is desirable, but not essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of OHS systems and processes, combined with excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to deliver impactful occupational health strategies.
Key attributes include:
- Strong knowledge of OHS systems (e.g., AS/NZS 4801), risk management, and auditing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel (intermediate level or higher).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring data-driven decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
