Your new role
Are you passionate about social justice and committed to supporting people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity? Wintringham is seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to join our Tasmanian team in a hybrid role. While mostly a direct support role, you will undertake some tenancy management tasks with the support of the southern tenancy team.
This is more than a job—it’s a chance to be part of a movement that empowers older Australians who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of it. We work within the Housing Connect framework, delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care that respects individuality and promotes dignity.
As a housing and homelessness support worker, your responsibilities and duties will also include:
- Case management of referrals from housing connect and working in accordance with the Housing Connect system.
- Working with residents by linking and referring them into allied and clinical services and social and recreational activities.
- Ensuring clients and residents obtain access to Home Care Packages (HCP) and NDIS supports by providing referrals, service navigation and case management.
- Reviewing client file documentation across program areas to ensure the timely and accurate recording of information and monitor service delivery for quality.
- Responding to client feedback and complaints in line with Wintringham policy and procedures.
- Utilising relationships within sectors to assist access into other services and systems.
Tenancy tasks will be undertaken with the support of the southern tenancy team.
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Certificate IV Community services, or Community Housing or experience working in the homelessness or relevant community services sector for at least 2 years
- Minimum 2 years experience working with vulnerable people and/or those requiring Aged Care, Mental Health services and allied health services and supports.
- A current Tasmanian drivers licence
- First Aid Certificate Level 2
- Experience as a support worker in homelessness or intensive case management services
- An understanding of the housing and homelessness service sector My Aged Care, NDIS and other relevant service systems
- Understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act, Tas and the ability to undertake tenancy related tasks.
