Applications are invited for the position of Youth Services Officer, based at Inverell Shire Council Library. The successful applicant shall be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of Library Services to young people. "Young People" covers the age range from birth to eighteen years old.

It should be noted that the successful candidate for this role will be required to regularly work on Saturdays and some evenings.

Essential:

Qualifications

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Formal qualifications relevant to the role at a minimum para-professional level (if qualifications are in a non-Library field, please explain their relevance).

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to an energetic, imaginative and passionate team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of young people’s literature and reading trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver innovative, creative quality Library services to young people.

Desirable:

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in providing literacy-oriented services for young people in a Library or educational environment will be highly regarded.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position is Operational Band 1, Level 3 to Band 2, Level 1, Grades 5 to 8, Columns 1 to 4. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,101.11 to $1,320.01 gross per week.
