The Manager, Policy is a key leadership role responsible for developing, strengthening and managing policy and regulatory reform for the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act (VEET Act). This will include regulatory reform, program operation reforms, targets setting, consumer protections and VEET Act amendments. The role will lead the provision of authoritative, high-quality advice to the Minister and Departmental Executive on energy efficiency policy in Victoria, often under significant time constraints.
The role involves leading a high-performing team and requires an understanding of the technical issues and solutions offered by the VEU program. The role will be required to develop and maintain critical and productive stakeholder relationships, including across the broader public service, industry, businesses, interest groups and the public.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Experience in researching, analysing, delivering and responding to complex regulatory policy in a Government context and translating that into the development of fit for purpose programs.
- Strong knowledge and experience in energy efficiency (as it relates to buildings, appliances, equipment or the residential or business sectors)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to liaise and work effectively with industry representatives.
- Experience with Government processes and operations including regulatory development or delivery.
Desirable:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications such as engineering, energy, science, energy economics, law or public policy.
There is one ongoing position available, as well as one fixed term position available until 31 December 2026. The successful candidate can select a base of either our Melbourne or Morwell office, hybrid work arrangements are also available.
