You will be regarded as GHD’s expert for metadata enablement and play a key role in delivering the Enterprise Data Management Strategy across the organisation.
In this dynamic role you will:

- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure buy-in and involvement at key points for decisions, rollout, training, and sustainability of metadata management across business units and data domains.
- Manage the end-to-end metadata framework, including defining and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned to business capabilities and data domains.
- Support the creation and management of ontologies and taxonomies to enhance data discoverability and semantic understanding across the organisation.
- Oversee the development of metadata and modelling assets, including business glossary terms, ontology hierarchies, data model documentation, dashboards, and scorecards.
- Implement metadata management and ontology governance through the adoption of an Enterprise Data Management Platform, including business glossary, lineage, MDM, reference data, enterprise data model, and data marketplace tooling.
- Advise on complex metadata issues, provide design and technical leadership, and develop best practice processes and policies.
- Deliver key initiatives against the data strategy, identify new opportunities, and support business case development to drive value.
- Perform analysis of various data sources to gather insights and metadata critical to support information management.
- Continually build knowledge of GHD’s business and technologies and keep up to date on industry and technology trends.
What you will bring to the team:
- Deep understanding of metadata management, data modelling methodologies (e.g., Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault), and ontology/taxonomy development.
- Extensive knowledge of metadata methodology, technology, and platforms.
- Proven experience in data management, with strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders in a complex organisation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and collaborative communication style.
- Commercial awareness, highly organised, self-managing, and motivated.
- Passion for data management and data quality, with exposure to data governance and working within a data office.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Technology, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in metadata or data quality roles within a large and/or global professional services organisation.
- Experience leading a team of metadata SMEs.
- Strong experience with metadata tooling such as Ataccama, Informatica, Trillium, Alation, and Collibra.
