SWSLHD is seeking a dedicated, collaborative and positive Multicultural Health Officer to work with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities living in South West Sydney.

In this role you will be working in partnership with health services and CALD communities to improve quality of care, access to health services and health literacy.

This role is part of a highly supportive team and you will receive guidance and gain experience from your managers. You will be driven to improve both the facilities and services for providing culturally competent services and programs to people from CALD communities but also your personal growth in the role.

What You'll Be Doing

This position works with health services and facilities, and externally with community and relevant organisations, to create a culturally responsive health service. This position works with key stakeholders and CALD communities to:


  • Support local SWSLHD services and facilities to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse consumers and communities.

  • Assist the facilities to meet the requirements of the National Safety & Quality Health Standards.

  • Assist in SWSLHD’s response to the accountabilities in the Multicultural Policies and Services Program.



This position will be located in a SWSLHD facility to provide support to CALD clients of a service, facility or program, and may be relocated according to need.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, welfare or related social sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in community education and development/implementation of programs and activities
  • Demonstrated experience in the health or community sector working and communicating effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office products and high level communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to communicate effectively with health and community sector staff from a wide range of disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
