Your role at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital
SJG Mount Lawley features eight modern operating theatres and two fully equipped procedure rooms, supporting a wide range of surgical specialties. These include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynaecology, plastics, and endoscopy. With a strong focus on patient safety and innovation—including robotic-assisted surgery—we offer a dynamic and collaborative environment for surgical excellence.
We are currently seeking Orthopaedic Technicians to support all aspects of patient care during Orthopaedic procedures and to deliver patient centred care in all interactions with our patients.
The role is offered on a permanent part-time basis working 30 hours per week.
The Position Orthopaedic Technician
- Under the direction of the Theatres Team leader, you will work to achieve the highest standard of patient care within a safe environment.
- Constantly liaise and communicate with Surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, technical and support caregivers regarding procedures, patient positioning and related equipment.
- Take directions as instructed within the operating room environment by senior nursing and medical staff.
- Ensure that all orthopaedic equipment has been received and is decontaminated and sterilised according to AS4817 and hospital policies.
- Ensure the maintenance of orthopaedic implant records.
- When rostered to Orthopaedics Room, ensures orthopaedic instruments and prostheses required for scheduled operations are available from suppliers. Checked in detail before and after use. Ordered and replaced. Safely returned to supplier if required and recorded re usage and stock levels.
- Ensure orthopaedic equipment required is available including SKG Intelliviewer operational and orthopaedic stacks correctly set up
You will have demonstrated knowledge of Orthopaedic equipment and application thereof, with knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, offering patient centred care.

- Salary: $79,060 to $87,204, (pro rata) plus 12% superannuation
- Permanent part-time position, ideally working 30 hours per week
