About the role
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for supporting the nursing staff, and reports to the registered nurses to ensure the safe and seamless delivery of care.
We are seeking a motivated Personal Care Assistant Hospital – Grade 1 for a permanent role within the Orthopaedic Short Stay and Neurosurgery Short Stay ward. The successful candidate must have recent acute experience in either a hospital or medical environment.
This is a great opportunity for a Personal Care Assistant with relevant experience and who has an interest in developing their skills in this area. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the successful candidate will work with the 2 Central team delivering excellent patient care within the framework of the Cabrini Mission and Values.
The role is a permanent 0.4 part-time position working Monday and Tuesday 7am-3pm.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering care to patients under the supervision and direction of the registered nurse
Providing observation of patients and related reporting to the registered nurse
Responding to patient and family queries and referring to the registered nurse as required
Maintaining the patient environment, including bed-making
Maintaining patient privacy and dignity and responding to their emotional, spiritual, and cultural needs
About you
You are a compassionate and reliable PCA with a hospital background and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
To be successful, you will have:
Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent qualification as outlined in the position description)
OR recent successful completion of the 1st year of a Diploma of Nursing, including acute/aged care placement
Previous experience in an acute hospital setting as a PCA or Ward Assistant
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
A strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality
