Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer to help deliver cutting edge command and control capabilities for the Joint Land Force project based in Canberra.
What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
- Support the Project Manager in setting priorities, workflows, and managing work packages.
- Prepare and review project documentation including strategies, plans, and estimates.
- Facilitate briefings, workshops, and reports for Defence stakeholders.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams for discrete tasks and ensure delivery to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Assist with complex procurement activities including FMS requests and tender evaluations.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in project/program management supporting Defence, ideally on a CASG project.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills, with a knack for stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in complex environments.
- Experience with Defence finance systems and procurement processes.
- Relevant qualifications would be preferred but not essential (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM)
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
