About the Role

The Residential Rehabilitation Manager will have a major role in day to day operations and supporting program development for the purposes of enhancing culturally appropriate alcohol & other drug (AOD) recovery programs. They will ensure the following is delivered to all staff and clients

• Sound and sustainable systems of administration, data collection and reporting
• Positive outcomes for clients through quality case management and relevant individual plans
• Establishment and maintenance of culturally appropriate program activities

Working with others at Ngwala to provide an environment of positive change for Aboriginal people to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure program goals, compliance and required standards are met
• Identify areas that require improvement through observation, audits, incidents and staff/client feedback, and relay this information to management for approval to implement changes
• Ensure all registers are maintained accurately
• Prepare rosters for the centre staff, conduct performance appraisals and regular staff supervision
• Participate in staff recruitment processes when required
• Conduct staff inductions ensure staff receive all necessary information
• Assist CSU in client intake process using the Comprehensive Assessment Tool (CAT)
• Ensure the daily care and activities of clients are carried out as per the roster
• Review client ITPs and support clients and staff to achieve set goals
• Oversee that webster packs and medication is provided to clients as required, including ordering, collecting, checking and recording of webster packs
• Ensure each resident is accommodated in a comfortable environment which is in good working order which meets QIP, Rooming House Standards
• Facilitate the processing of paperwork and client applications and conduct internal audits of client files
• Liaise with the community and various agencies and provide referrals as well as advocate on behalf of clients where appropriate (this may include attending court)
• Manage in house expenses (e.g. kitchen supplies) and adhere to program budgets, including monitoring petty cash and reporting cash flow to the Finance Team, ensuring resources are used effectively
• Maintaining accurate and up to date client records and case notes in the client’s file
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism including client confidentiality
• Report any concerns to management and in emergency situations be prepared to contact the relevant emergency services
• Prepare and serve meals to clients promptly, following the cook’s meal plan, while adhering to nutritional and dietary requirements

Skills & Experience

• Ability to provide leadership and line management supervision to a team of specialist workers
• An understanding of the intergenerational loss, grief and trauma that is experienced by Aboriginal community members and the subsequent AOD issues that result.
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and commitment to the Aboriginal community
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in maintaining quality processes.
• Demonstrated skills in case management
• Good organisation and time management skills
• Skills in working independently, with initiative and as a team member
• Willingness and ability to work within and contribute to the vision, purpose and inclusive spiritual approach of the organisation
• Able to develop positive relationships with clients and work within a stressful environment
• Ability to implement, lead and support change
• Ability to develop positive relationships with clients and external stakeholders while effectively working in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer skills including knowledge in using Microsoft Office suite and competency in using mobile phone applications.

Mandatory Requirements

• Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or Community Services - must have or be willing to enrol and complete expediently after commencement, supported by Ngwala
• Current Victorian driver's licence
• National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months)
• Victorian Employment Working with Children Check
• Must be confident driving large vehicle (Van)
• Mandatory requirements will be verified
