About the role
Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting directly to our Financial Controller, this role will:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including QBCC regulations, PQC compliance, and tax legislation.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and forecasting.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making at all levels of the business.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external regulatory bodies.
- Review and improve internal financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
- Provide tax planning and management, including developing tax strategies to optimize the group’s tax position and ensure compliance with all tax laws.
- Play a key role in managing corporate tax returns and ensure timely submission.
- Provide advice on tax implications of business transactions, including M&A, capital expenditures, and other significant events.
- Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure the company maximizes available tax credits, deductions, and other opportunities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other finance team members.
- Play a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of McNab as we continue to expand and diversify our portfolio.
- Monitor and report banking covenants, ensuring compliance and timely reporting to financial institutions
- Coordinate the preparation of financial packs for tender submissions and other ad-hoc financial requests
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CPA or CA qualification.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a financial accounting role, with a blend of public practice and industry experience, ideally in construction or related sectors.
- Proven experience with Australian Accounting Standards, tax compliance, financial reporting, and tax planning.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear, concise manner.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and strategies, including corporate tax management
