The Organisation

Airservices Australia is a government-owned organisation responsible for the safe and efficient management of 11% of the world’s airspace and provision of aviation rescue firefighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.

The Role & The Team

As a Simulator Support Officer, you will deliver simulation exercises within the Simulator by performing the role of a simulator pilot, simulator air traffic control and deliver coordination as other agencies. You will also contribute to the design, development, and delivery of innovative and high-quality competency-based delivery solutions to ensure effective and efficient training outcomes for operational air traffic control. You will ensure that compliance, safety, business, and regulatory requirements are met.

Training is a key enabler for ongoing workforce capability development in air traffic services and presents an exciting platform for innovation and new technologies.

Our team work within a fast paced and dynamic operational training environment where they have the ability to influence and contribute to the success of our ongoing training programs and project initiatives. You will be part of a small team responsible for the delivery of high-quality simulation services and related delivery outcomes. This is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract (full-time) located in Sydney.

The Person

The successful applicant will possess:

Technical Prowess: Demonstrated proficiency with relevant IT software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and eagerness to embrace new technologies.
Mathematical Acuity: Competence in performing mental arithmetic accurately and expediently on an ongoing basis,
Multi role management and delivery: Monitor and action a variety of targets and simulated agencies to deliver a high-quality realistic simulation environment.

Desired Experience

Training Facilitation: Experience in delivering both theoretical and hands-on training on a one-on-one or group basis.
Airspace Know-how: General understanding or appreciation of aircraft performance and Air Traffic Control procedures.
R/T & Phonetic Alphabet Knowledge: Acquaintance with Radio Telephony phraseology and the phonetic alphabet.
Exposure to ATC Environments: Prior experience or familiarity with Air Traffic Control operations and environments.

Qualifications

Language Proficiency: Must hold, maintain, or be able to attain ICAO English Language Proficiency at level 6 or its equivalent (Essential).
Aviation Credentials: Possession of or pursuit towards aviation qualifications, either via flying experience or tertiary studies (Highly Desirable)

Commencing base salary for this position is $81,230.00, with successful completion of a 12 week training course required to then move to the fully endorsed salary of $110,147.
