BASF Coatings is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Technical Specialist to join our Commercial Transport Solutions (CTS) & Colour Services team. This is your opportunity to work with a global leader in coatings innovation, supporting our Glasurit brand and beyond.
Formula for Success
As the Technical Services Specialist you will be responsible for providing expert technical support across BASF Coatings’ product and colour systems, acting as the first point of contact for technical enquiries. You’ll manage complaint resolution processes, conduct vehicle paint inspections, and support digital colour tools and formulation programs. This role requires a hands-on approach, combining lab-based evaluation with field support, and includes regular travel across NSW and occasional interstate visits. You’ll also collaborate with global teams to localise technical documentation and training content, ensuring our customers receive best-in-class service and solutions.
Main responsibilities:
- Be the go-to expert for technical and colour-related enquiries across BASF Coatings brands.
- Provide frontline support for digital colour systems (e.g. Refinity/ICCM) and troubleshoot remotely with end-users and field technicians.
- Lead complaint resolution processes, including product evaluation, lab simulation, and escalation to global technical teams.
- Conduct vehicle paint inspections and manage inspection reports across NSW and ANZ.
- Benchmark BASF and competitor products to support commercial and technical positioning.
- Collaborate with global teams to localise technical documentation and training content.
- Support CTS business development through product testing and onsite technical support.
Ingredients for Success
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong communication skills and a calm, solution-focused approach—especially when managing customer concerns. You’ll need a solid foundation in paint chemistry or vehicle refinishing, with hands-on experience in lab or field environments.
You will:
- Have a background in paint chemistry or trade-qualified vehicle painting.
- Have experience in coatings, lab, or refinish environments.
- Behold strong communication skills and the ability to manage challenging customer interactions.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and a methodical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Have the willingness to travel (approx. 30% of the time) across Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, and occasionally interstate.
