Darwin Based- Touring to Barrow Island

Who we are
Offshore Services Australasia (OSA) is the leading supplier of helicopters services to the Australian Offshore industry. We operate multiple helicopter types from several bases throughout Australia providing support to major oil and gas producers.

Role Summary
Residing in Darwin, OSA is seeking a dynamic Operations Officer to join our Offshore Operations team in a full-time touring position at our base of operations primarily in Darwin and the occasional coverage in Barrow Island. Reporting to the Darwin Base Manager/s, you will work as part of a localised team to provide support to ensure efficient and effective base operations. You will work a 2 week on, 2 weeks off roster (15/13) and be available to work on call as required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • A safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety behaviour within the business.
  • Build capabilities by developing self and others to deliver time and time again.
  • Comply with all Company health, environmental safety and security, equal opportunity/sexual harassment policies and occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure the completion of the daily flying program
  • Ensure base operations/flight planning rooms are supplied with necessary equipment, publications, displays and information for Aircrew, Engineers, and Operations staff
  • Compile daily reports and collect daily/weekly contract statistics for the base
  • Collaboratively work with other OSA Departments at a base level, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the operation
  • Liaise with our clients daily to assist with maximizing flight scheduling and providing a safe and efficient operation
  • Ensure the base radio facilities are serviceable prior to the commencement of the daily flying program
  • Complete all operational reports/information as designated.
  • Co-ordinate SAR and medevac responses in accordance with Company procedures with reference to local procedures and the ERP Manual.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Experience in a similar role is valued but not mandatory.
  • Must hold an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC) or be able meet requirements to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Competent computer skills especially with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to work autonomously under general direction.
  • Team oriented and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Demonstrate a positive, flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills.
  • Experienced and comfortable in dealing with different cultures and difficult situations.
  • Possession of an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC).
  • Experience in check-in and ground handling is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Offshore Aviation Emergency Response procedures.
  • Experience with Flight Following procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, decision making and communication skills and customer centric approach.
  • The ability to work as part of an effective team, maintaining adaptability and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Aviation and Offshore Operations experience is highly desirable.
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness course highly desirable.
