BRHS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical officer looking to join our expanding medical workforce. As one of three Surgical Registrars, you will gain significant skills and experience working in a rural setting, by delivering high-quality and locally appropriate medical care to consumers of BRHS, under the supervision and direction of our Consultant General Surgeons
As the largest healthcare provider in East Gippsland, Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) supports a rapidly growing population, offering a board spectrum of care, to the local and wider communities. The BRHS Medical Services directorate encompasses the clinical areas of Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sub-Acute or Rehabilitation Medicine, Surgery, support services including Pharmacy, Medical Imaging and Pathology as well as a Medical Workforce Administration team
The Surgical team run theatre, surgical inpatient management, pre-admissions, and outpatient consultations. The Perioperative Suite includes two operating theatres, recovery room, pre admission clinic and a day procedure unit. Local and visiting specialists provide a range of services including general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, endoscopy and dental. Local General Practitioner Anaesthetists (GPAs) provide anaesthetic services
All applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent)
- General Registration or eligible for Provisional Registration
- Minimum AHPRA level 3 supervision for International Medical Graduates
- If an international candidate, Registration with the Medical Board of Australia is required prior commencement
- Minimum 3 years of postgraduate experience in clinical medicine, including minimum 12 months surgical experience/ surgical HMO year in Australia or equivalent overseas
- AMC parts 1 & 2 passed (if applicable - for candidates on Standard pathway)
- Competence in advanced life support techniques.
