About The Role This exciting role of Environmental Officer is available due to internal transfer. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent and working within a small but high performance management team, you will provide environmental support and oversight across the entire Werris Creek mining operation with a key focus on all relevant statutory approvals, environmental management plans and community expectations. You will gain experience in:
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities- collating field monitoring data in; noise performance, blasting, ground and surface water, dust and meteorology; updating data.
  • Regularly engaging with local landowners and community stakeholders, providing project updates and advising management of any changes in community sentiment.
  • Champion the continued development and evolution of the safe haven culture to ensure safety remains an integral to ‘the way we work.
  • Assist and lead in the preparation and submission of approvals and reports, to ensure continuity of operations including transition to mine closure.
  • Play a lead role in further improvements to the environmental performance at the Werris Creek mine project. This will include a front seat role in gaining invaluable experience in the transition of the Werris Creek mine into the closure and final rehabilitation phases in the next few years.
  • Work as part of a team in existing mine rehabilitation programs to meet statutory conditions/commitments inc. planting, seeding and weed control with both future and existing established rehabilitation areas.
  • Take ownership for own health and safety and have an obligation to take reasonable care for the health and safety of others.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of regulatory processes in mining or related large-scale operational projects.
  • Confident in your ability to deliver technical information in a clear and easy to understand manner when liaising with community members, internal and external stakeholders and site operations staff.
