Advanced Clinical Coder

About the role

Mater is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent full-time basis. This role will code across all Maters locations and is based at Mater’s South Brisbane Campus.

Due to recent staff retirement, an exciting opportunity has opened up for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our Clinical Coding Services team.

Salary range: $54.57 - $59.38 (MCA5) per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

• Accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements
• Code inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards
• Meet standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and the impact on potential funding
• Identification of unclear or ambiguous documentation and subsequent initiation of coding queries
• Participate in coding audit, quality and education to expand coding skills
• Apply the principles of confidentiality, privacy and security with the medical environment

About you

You will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate 1V in Clinical Classification (or equivalent). You will also have:

• Minimum five years (ideally full-time equivalent) experience working as a Clinical Coder
• Up to date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
• Experience using 3M Encoder
• Strong organisation skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Understanding of private sector funding models (Desirable)
• Experience using Webpas, iPM, and scanned medical records (Desirable)
