Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.

Description:
The AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) and MH (Mental Health) Worker- MMHC (Medicare Mental Health Centre) is a staff member of Odyssey Programs and works within a MMHC as part of that team. The AOD and MH Worker provides specialised AOD and MH treatment and support services to clients of the MMHC’s. This will include counselling, case management, group facilitation, and other psychosocial supports.
Skills and Experiences:
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Significant experience supporting persons with alcohol and other drugs support needs.
- Significant experience supporting persons with mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs.
- Experience in provision of one-to-one support for people with AOD and Mental Health support needs.
- Experience in group facilitation and group program delivery.
- Demonstrable experience working in team environment to deliver coordinated support.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking brief and comprehensive assessment as well as ongoing assessment of client support needs.
- Experience working within a non-government AOD treatment program.
- Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems (CMS’s)
- Demonstrable communication skills including report writing, case note writing.
- Understanding of the principles of the Privacy Act and its practical implementation in service delivery.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implement the principles of WHS, EEO and continuous Quality Improvement.
- The ability to regulate emotions, remain calm and be emotionally resilient while interacting and supporting clients with high levels of emotion and at time emotionally disturbing conversations.
- Hold a current NSW Driver's Licence.
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance for paid employment.
