Primary objective
Provide internal and external advice on electronic reporting services that includes support to assist licenced fishing operators meet
legislative reporting requirements and provide administrative assistance that supports the day-to-day operations of the work unit.
Context statement
As part of a multi-disciplinary team this position is a frontline role responding to internal and external stakeholder enquiries. The
successful applicant will have the ability to learn and be proficient in applications and software relevant to the management of
aquatic resources such as vessel monitoring systems and electronic logbook reporting applications.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Respond to internal and external stakeholders over the phone, in person and by email to facilitate reporting requirements of
licenced fishing operators.
2. Monitor and report on the status of electronic reporting services used for the purposes of fisheries management.
3. Interpret and apply policy and legislation to provide advice to stakeholders regarding aquatic resource management.
4. Maintain accurate records and update information systems and databases to maintain regulatory compliance and data integrity.
5. Maintain security and confidentiality of documentation in compliance with legislation and guidelines.
6. Support the operations of the Wild harvest Unit including liaising with stakeholders, scheduling meetings, taking notes and the
development of business workflow, policies and guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Recent and demonstrated experience in delivering positive, polite and courteous customer service and well-coordinated
administrative support.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
3. Previous experience using various software applications, electronic reporting tools and database systems, maintaining quality
control and integrity of information.
4. Ability to multi-task and re-prioritise based on demand, deadlines and direction while exercising judgement and initiative.
5. Experience understanding and applying legislation and policy to address stakeholder enquiries, or ability to acquire in a short
period of time.
6. Demonstrated personal and professional ethics of confidentiality, sensitivity, tact, reliability and self-motivation.
Desirable
1. Proficiency operating within established electronic database systems.
