Our Commercial team is a large, but a close-knit group of trading experts, who are ready to shape the future of Coles. About the role
This is a role that requires a strong commercial acumen, managing 2 areas, (core cheese and entertainment), with support from an Assistant Category Manager and Business Category Coordinator. You will have involvement in both local and imported programs, innovating and problem solving to deliver strong category outcomes with an understanding of the customer being pivotal to your success.
You'll also:
- Drive results and performance of your categories
- Work cross-functionally across Supply Chain, Marketing, Operations, Transformation and Strategy
- Execute our customer-centric strategy for your categories
- Drive innovation within the category, working closely with the broader Coles Merchandise team
- Build strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, using your negotiation and influencing skills to drive the direction of the category
- Work closely with our Direct Sourcing team, fostering relationships with our amazing dairy farmers to make their milk into Coles Own Brand Dairy Products to delight our customers
About you and your skills
This is a complex category that requires demonstrated Category Management experience within a leading retailer, or FMCG organisation.
You’ll also need:
- A thorough understanding of managing complex categories, high SKU counts and sales turnover
- Experience managing a number of suppliers, both large and independents
- Outstanding influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Creative style with the ability to operate in a dynamic, customer-driven retail environment
- An innovative and creative mindset to deliver newness into ranges
- Proven ability to champion and drive change
- Strong financial acumen within a highly commercial environment
