Rubicon Water is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Customs Classifier and Logistics Officer to join our team on a full-time basis, based at our Hawthorn East, Melbourne office.
In this role, you will ensure the seamless movement of goods across international borders while maintaining full compliance with customs regulations. Reporting to the Global Planning and Logistics Manager, you will play a key role in managing customs compliance and coordinating the end-to-end movement of freight (air and sea). You will be responsible for ensuring goods are correctly classified under the Harmonized System, managing logistics providers, and preparing accurate documentation to support smooth import/export processes.

Duties
- Classify imported/exported goods using correct HS codes and apply relevant tariffs and trade agreements
- Maintain product classification and country of origin (COO) databases
- Prepare and submit customs documentation to brokers and freight forwarders
- Stay up to date with customs laws, tariffs and trade regulations
- Coordinate freight operations from dispatch to delivery
- Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers and internal teams
- Track shipments and resolve any delivery issues
- Manage and reconcile shipping documentation (e.g. bills of lading, COO)
- Identify logistics cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Maintain accurate customs and logistics records
- Monitor logistics performance and support process improvements
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in customs classification and international logistics.
- Strong knowledge of HS codes, Incoterms and global trade compliance (e.g., FTA, WTO).
- Experience with customs software and ERP systems, specifically SAP B1.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident working with data.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
- Customs certification (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist or similar) desirable.
