Deputy Principal (Wellbeing)

Haileybury is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to take on the role of Deputy Principal (Wellbeing); a senior executive position with strategic influence across one of Australia’s most innovative and high-performing schools.

The Deputy Principal (Wellbeing) leads the development and delivery of Haileybury’s Wellbeing Framework across all campuses, from Early Learning Centre (ELC) to Year 12, including Haileybury Pangea, our pioneering online school. With over 7,000 students across Victoria, Darwin, and international locations, the Deputy Principal (Wellbeing) plays a central role in shaping the culture, climate, and lived experience of every student.

As a key member of the Senior Executive Team, you will work closely with the CEO | Principal, Deputy Principals, Heads of Campus, and other senior leaders to embed wellbeing into every aspect of school life. You will lead multidisciplinary teams including Psychologists, Nurses, and the Individual Needs Department, and serve as Haileybury’s Senior Child Safety and Wellbeing Officer, ensuring compliance with legislation across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a role of deep relational leadership and strategic vision and one that influences policy, practice, and pedagogy across the entire school community. You will be instrumental in fostering a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where students flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

About You

We’re looking for an exceptional leader who possesses the following skills and experience:

  • You are a seasoned executive leader with a proven track record of driving strategic wellbeing and pastoral care initiatives in complex educational environments.
  • Extensive leadership experience at a senior level, with the ability to influence across multiple campuses and diverse teams.
  • Deep expertise in wellbeing, child safety, and pastoral care, underpinned by a strong understanding of contemporary research, legislative frameworks, and best practice models.
  • A strategic mindset, capable of designing and implementing school-wide frameworks that align with organisational values and deliver measurable impact.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build trust, lead sensitive conversations, and foster collaborative relationships with students, staff, families, and external partners.
  • A commitment to data-informed decision-making, with the ability to evaluate programs, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Credibility and integrity, with a leadership style that combines empathy, decisiveness, and a principled approach to student wellbeing and safety.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field are highly desirable, as is experience working across geographically dispersed or multi-modal learning environments.

If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply to join the team at Haileybury where we aim to create a supportive culture and learning environment that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth for our staff and students.
