Join our team as a Development Compliance Officer
Redland City Council is looking for two Development Compliance Officer (permanent x1, maximum term contract for ten months x1) to play a vital role in ensuring development across Redlands Coast aligns with relevant laws and policies. About the role:
As a Development Compliance Officer, you’ll manage a diverse and complex caseload relating to planning, building compliance, vegetation clearing, signage, and development approvals. You’ll investigate breaches, apply relevant legislation, and deliver high-quality customer service while balancing community needs and regulatory requirements.
Guided by our Values , you will:
Investigate and resolve development and building compliance matters under the Planning Act 2016 , Building Act 1975 , Redland City Plan, and Council Local Laws
Draft regulatory notices, letters, briefing notes, and evidence statements
Manage complex investigations, plan daily work, and meet legislative and operational deadlines
Provide technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery and case outcomes
Promote continuous improvement and contribute to team development.
What you’ll bring
Proven ability to interpret and apply planning and building legislation
Experience in investigations, compliance, or enforcement (preferably within local government or similar environment)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidently and tactfully
Sound organisational skills to manage multiple cases and deliver timely results
A collaborative and customer-focused mindset.
Eligibility
You'll hold a current C Class Open Driver Licence
To be eligible for employment, appicants must have the legal right to work in Australia
