Primary objective
Work as part of a small team to administer a whole of government program evaluation framework.
Context statement
Use your policy development skills to drive innovation and efficiency in the delivery of government services in the Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in the development of work unit business plans, policies and procedures to support the Program Evaluation Unit.
2. Undertake policy research, investigation and analysis relating to program evaluation
3. Assist with the implementation of a whole of government program evaluation framework and relevant legislative
instruments.
4. Develop appropriate communications to improve understanding and awareness of program evaluation across
government.
5. Assist with the management of external consultancies to undertake financial and functional reviews across government.
6. Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of government expenditure and provide associated advice.
7. Liaise with interstate counterparts and external parties on program evaluation matters and represent the agency on
interagency working groups.
8. Participate in Divisional projects as an active team member, such as Budget Development, as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge of program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
2. Research, conceptual, analytical and policy development skills.
3. Sound written communication and oral skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
4. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, including an ability to prioritise commitments and meet critical
deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
5. Ability to participate effectively in teams to achieve desired outcomes.
6. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification.
2. Knowledge of government systems, practices and legislative processes, including evidence-based policy and public sector
innovation.
3. Awareness of major public policy issues.
