Location Profile
Robinvale College is situated on the Murray River in North Western Victoria, approximately 500 km northwest of Melbourne, between the regional cities of Mildura (85 km) and Swan Hill (145 km).
Robinvale College was established as a new entity in January 2016 after the closure of Robinvale P-12 College which was formed in 2010 following the merger of Robinvale Secondary College and Robinvale Consolidated School. The College serves a large horticultural and agricultural community.
We seek to appoint an experienced and highly motivated school leader as Executive Principal; a leader who recognises and embraces diversity, engages and partners with the local community, and who builds a highly skilled and strongly student-centred staff team to improve student outcomes and pathways to future learning, training and employment opportunities.
As a rural school, Robinvale College's student profile is unique. The College is proud of its many cultures including Anglo Celtic, Italian, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, Polynesian, Greek and Asian. In 2025 approximately 56% of the students were either of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, or Polynesian descent. In recent years the local community has seen an influx of new arrivals; there are over 40 different nationalities, including refugees from the Middle East and Horn of Africa - all in a town of 8,000 people.
As a multicultural school, the need to provide inclusive educational opportunities for the many diverse cultures of students is fundamental. The College hosts a Clontarf Academy which was established in 2010 to support engagement and retention of young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander men and improve educational outcomes. More recently, a Koorie Girls Academy has also been established. New arrivals students are a key part of almost 50% of our students who come from Language Backgrounds Other Than English (LBOTE); including EAL funded students who have very specific language and literacy needs. An exciting challenge and opportunity lie in providing a learning environment that simultaneously respects diversity, while building College and community identity and pride.
Raising achievement in literacy and numeracy continues to be the focus of student learning. The College aims for a combination of high-quality teaching practices focusing on using data to inform practice and high levels of student engagement, primarily through students having a sense of ownership of their data and setting challenging goals. We aim for students to develop resilience to persevere through any challenges and to navigate the everyday issues that affect them in a spirit of problem-solving, optimism, creativity, and fun.
In 2019, Robinvale College entered into a 10-year agreement with the Colman Education Foundation to become an 'Our Place' School. The Our Place approach enables communities to access all the services and support they need, from birth, through the front door of their local school. In Robinvale this includes integrated Maternal Child Health, early learning, adult volunteering and education and connections to health and wellbeing services. The Robinvale College Executive Principal is an integral and active member of the Robinvale Our Place Partnership and works closely with the Our Place team who are embedded within the school.
The Partnership has 4 current priorities:
1. Children and young people are attending, engaging and aspiring as learners.
2. Children, young people and families receive the health and wellbeing services they need.
3. The capacity of families is built to enable confident parenting and strong community connections.
4. Our community is connected to the Robinvale College site as a place of inclusion, learning, opportunity and joy.
Further information about this critical partnership can be found at: https://ourplace.org.au/our-sites/robinvale/.
