First Aid Officer
About the role:
The First Aid Officers at Raging Waters Sydney will have primary responsibility for the provision of First aid to all employees and guests that are ill or injured. They will be responsible for the maintenance, stock control and replenishment of first aid supplies. As a member of a highly professional team, the First Aid Officer works collaboratively with all relevant staff to ensure the effective and efficient administration and delivery of all facets of First Aid services within Raging Waters Sydney.The First Aid Officer ensures the First Aid Clinic is a welcoming, supportive, effective and efficient environment for all employees, contractors and guests. They will also provide some administrative support associated with incident reporting, and other clerical tasks as required.
The First Aid Officer will be self-motivated and professionally presented and require a ‘hands-on’ approach with the ability to work as a part of a team. The First Aid Officer needs to possess excellent communication skills and be innovative and enthusiastic.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Attending to ill or injured employees, contractors and guests.- Be able to keep calm during emergency situations and provide efficient care.
- Ability to quickly and accurately assess guest and staff medical conditions and figure out an appropriate course of treatment.
- Maintaining and update records of employee medical conditions and allergies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records for all Employee/Guest related injuries.
- Complete all reporting in a timely manner and investigate accidents/incidents as necessary in conjunction with the People & Culture Director or any other member of the management team.
- Identify health and safety hazards in the working environment.
- Initiate hazard and risk assessments.
- Conduct follow-up calls to guests to help meet Raging Waters Sydney’s public liability obligations.
- Maintaining resources, equipment and stock relating to health and first aid.
- Participate in ERT training/drills as directed by the Operations Manager including debriefing sessions.
- Maintain a positive work relationship with all members of the ERT in order to build a relationship of confidence and trust critical to the effective and efficient handling of an emergency situation.
- Assist in the orientation of new first aid staff, and provide assistance to all other first aid staff as requested.
- Provide assistance where required on improving ERT training and procedures.
- Refer the more serious incidences of conflict and dispute both internal (staff) and external (general public) to the Operations Manager.
- At times, carry out delegated duties requiring little or no supervision.
- To assist in the development, implementation, delivery and review of workplace health and safety policy and procedures that ensure Raging Waters Sydney meets its various obligations.
- Assist in the development, implementation, delivery and review of policy and procedures that ensure Raging Waters Sydney meets its various obligations including financial, workplace health and safety, industry and legal requirements.
- Assist with administration tasks as directed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- To carry out all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager or member of the Management Team.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS):
- Follow and comply with Work Health Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Correctly use all safety and personal protective equipment
- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours.
- Report WHS incidents, injuries and safety activities to your direct Manager and First Aid at the time it occurs.
- Promote proactive hazard/ near miss reporting. Report any hazards or near-miss incidents to your direct Manager and the People & Culture Director.
- Attend Work Group Meetings to discuss and promote safety.
- Liaise with Return to Work Coordinator to assist injured team members returning to work.
Education:
Essential
- Current First Aid certification
- Current Working with Children Check
Desirable
- Mental Health First Aid
- Anaphylaxis Training certification
- Manual Handling Training
Languages: Fluent English
Skills:
- Ability to represent yourself and the park in a polite, courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to exert calm authority in medical, emergency situations.
- Effectively communicate and relay information to other staff members of relevant departments.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership skills. Ability to communicate clearly and calmly under pressure.

- Highly developed oral communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work, both on an individual and team basis, within a set timetable and in a team environment of change and competing demands.
- To be able to relay accurate information and advice to customers in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to listen to customer requirements and offer the options available to meet their needs.
Experience:
- Experience as a First Aid Officer or in a similar role
- Computer and data entry experience
- Experience in managing and/or contributing to First Aid responses

Pay Conditions:
This is a casual position from October to April, with the ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and public holidays during the season.
The hourly rates are in accordance with the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award. First Aid Officers aged 20 years or older are paid at a Grade 7 hourly rate of $38.34 per hour (includes casual loading).

- Penalty rates apply for Sundays and Public Holidays.
