About the Role:
Reporting to the Guidance Lead, the role of Guidance Officer supports Energy Safe Victoria's centralised industry guidance function, which focuses on the effective design, delivery, and evaluation of educational and compliance support materials for energy industries, including electricity, gas, and renewable technologies.
This is a newly established and exciting function within Energy Safe Victoria, offering the successful candidate a unique opportunity to shape the role and contribute to the development of the team's direction and impact. As one of the first in this space, the Guidance Officer will play a key role in building and embedding a proactive guidance approach that supports safety and compliance across the sector.
About the opportunity
We have 2 Ongoing, full-time opportunity for a Guidance Officer to join Industry Education & Guidance Team
Number of Roles: 2 positions available.
You will contribute by:
  • Contribute to the planning, development and implementation of high-quality industry guidance materials to assist stakeholders to understand and comply with their obligations under legislation and technical standards, industry best practice, and Energy Safe's position.
  • Work collaboratively with industry, technical experts and other internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver industry guidance that is accurate, accessible, relevant and meets cohort needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of guidance materials and provide recommendations to inform a continuous improvement cycle, to ensure all published materials remain current and valid.
  • Review and update existing industry guidance to ensure it is current and effectively meets industry needs
  • Develop and manage project briefs and plans with clearly defined objectives, action steps and timeframes to support the delivery of the guidance to industry.
  • Identify subject areas where guidance materials would assist industry stakeholders in meeting their regulatory obligations and lead the development of such materials.
  • Identify the stakeholder audience for each guidance product and ensure guidance is produced and delivered in the format most suitable for the cohort.
  • Partner with industry and industry associations to drive best practice in electrical and gas safety, to increase industry knowledge and enable industry participants to operate within the regulatory framework of legislation administered by Energy Safe.
  • Contribute to the oversight and maintenance of a centralised depository of knowledge.
  • Support subject matter experts to deliver guidance to stakeholders as required, including, but not limited to, presentations and webinars.
  • Comply with all approved Energy Safe policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required on request.
To be successful, you'll have:
  • Experience in developing regulatory guidance materials that effectively communicate technical information to the target audience.
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, directives and procedures to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
  • Strong communication, engagement and evaluation skills and experience.
  • A very high level of technical and/or regulatory writing and editing s kills.
  • An understanding and practical knowledge of Victorian Government accessibility guidelines and requirements.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including technical subject matter experts, to develop clear and practical guidance materials that reflect good industry practice in managing and reducing risk.
  • Ability to operate independently, self-motivate, manage and prioritise their own complex workload, as well as ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team that must often adapt to changing priorities.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to lead, provide advice and guidance to resolve issues and introduce improvement.
  • High level advocacy skills and the ability to produce authoritative guidance and advice in such a way that it is possible to maintain good relationships when dealing with complex stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify stakeholder cohorts and determine the most effective mode for delivering guidance to that audience.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of duty based legislative frameworks (Desired).
  • Broad range of electrical or gas industry knowledge and experience (Desired).
  • Experience in content creation for multiple formats and channels (Desired).
