About the Role
As the Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a positive and successful transition for students into secondary schooling, leading initiatives that promote engagement, wellbeing, and strong learning outcomes across Years 7-9. You will champion high expectations for behaviour and achievement while fostering a safe, inclusive environment where every student is supported to succeed. Working closely with staff, families, and the wider community, you will strengthen partnerships and ensure continuity of learning as students move from primary to secondary education. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the junior secondary experience at Proserpine State High School and contribute to the continued growth of its strong culture and future direction.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department - Junior Secondary, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Principles of Junior Secondary and how they inform effective practice.
Builds positive, respectful, and productive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Oversees and enhances the smooth transition of students from primary to high school.
