Firbank is seeking an experienced, highly competent and approachable Head of Rowing, who will lead our school rowing program.
The Head of Rowing will be responsible for the development, management and strategic planning in all areas of the School’s rowing program. The Head of Rowing will implement appropriate programs, which will cater for a range of ability levels from beginners to elite athletes.
We are seeking a candidate who will foster a high-performing, collaborative and supportive environment, that will procure the very best out of our Rowing staff and students. Firbank will encourage and support Professional Learning opportunities in accordance with the School’s strategic direction.
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role within a school or rowing club and will meet the below selection criteria. Please include a Cover Letter within your application, outlining why you would be a good fit for the position.
Position Details: This is an ongoing role with a September start (flexible for the right candidate).

Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including efficient communication, organisation and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and external partners.
- A strong bias towards achievement and customer service with a focus on outcomes.
- Display self-confidence and collaboration; exhibit a sense of initiative and flexibility.
- A deep understanding of rowing, including technical expertise, competition strategies and training methodologies. Within this, an understanding of and ability to manage logistics, equipment, and resources efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hands-on experience in leading and coaching rowing programs, with a demonstrated ability to develop athletes at various levels. Experience as a Head of Rowing within a school or rowing club will be highly regarded.
- Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., Rowing Australia or equivalent)
- Current Working With Children Check (employee)(or willingness to obtain).
- Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
