We are looking for someone to join our purpose-led high-growth scale-up in a Head of Technology position. In this newly created role, you will play a pivotal role in translating our technology vision into reality. Acting as 2IC to the CTO, you will drive technical excellence, mentor engineering leaders, and deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions that power our mission. About The Role

This role combines strategic influence with hands-on leadership. You’ll lead a team of Tech Leads and engineers, guiding them through architectural decisions, technology transformation, and world-class delivery. You’ll balance technical depth with people leadership, ensuring we have the right capabilities, culture, and practices in place to grow. Most importantly, you’ll inspire our engineering teams to do their best work and represent the technology function confidently across the company.

What you’ll do:
  • Shape and own our technology strategy across modern platforms (AWS, .NET, React, Python), while steering the transition away from legacy systems. You’ll love applying your architectural expertise to build scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex technical challenges, leading deep dives and embedding long-term fixes. If you thrive on solving high-stakes problems, this will energise you.
  • Champion a security-first culture, embedding practices like secure coding (OWASP), privacy-by-design, and regulatory compliance (CPS234). You’ll love being the guardian of quality, security, and resilience.
  • Lead and mentor Tech Leads, empowering them to run high-performing, autonomous squads. If growing and coaching leaders excites you, this role will feel rewarding.
  • Drive predictable delivery of the roadmap, working with the CTO to execute key initiatives with excellence. You’ll love the sense of achievement from seeing strategy translate into tangible outcomes.

  • Communicates clearly and persuasively with both technical and non-technical audiences, and can confidently represent technology at the executive level.
  • Has demonstrated experience guiding teams through transformation — whether scaling platforms, re-architecting systems, or evolving engineering practices.
  • Brings a strong understanding of security and compliance principles relevant to regulated industries (e.g. CPS234, ISO27001, OWASP).
Essential Hands-on Expertise:

We’re looking for someone who brings the proven skills and experience needed to hit the ground running in a complex, regulated environment:
  • Proven track record of engineering leadership, with experience leading leaders (e.g. managing Tech Leads or Engineering Managers).
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud-native architecture and modern stacks, ideally AWS, .NET (C#), React, SQL, and Python.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices, compliance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g. APRA CPS234, ISO27001, OWASP).
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural decision-making for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
  • Experience working in financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries, where security and resilience are non-negotiable.
  • Ability to balance strategy and execution, shifting comfortably between long-term roadmaps and short-term delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences (e.g. board, executive, product, risk).
  • Proven ability to deliver complex technology programs on time with quality and predictability.

  • Experience in the financial services industry
