Reports to: Director of Curriculum (7–12)
St Michael’s Grammar School invites applications for the position of Head of Visual Arts and Design, a dynamic leadership opportunity for an experienced educator with a passion for contemporary arts education and curriculum innovation.
This role is central to shaping and delivering a cohesive, forward-thinking Visual Arts and Design curriculum across Years 7–12, supported by a team of dedicated and skilled staff. The successful candidate will also provide guidance to Junior School Art teachers as needed, fostering a whole-school approach to creative learning.
We are seeking a visionary and collaborative leader who will connect student learning to the broader world through meaningful partnerships with cultural, business, and community organisations.
Whilst candidates with specialities within the full range of Visual Arts disciplines are encouraged to apply, specific experience within VCE Art Making and Exhibiting is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum development and implementation in Visual Arts and Design across Years 7–12.
- Provide expert advice and support to staff, students, and families in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum.
- Maintain high standards in assessment and reporting practices.
- Oversee staffing and resource allocation for the Visual Arts and Design programs.
- Champion the role of Visual Arts within a collaborative and innovative educational environment.
- Manage relationships with external providers and guest presenters.
