Role

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the processing and monitoring of personnel transactions on eduPay
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with personnel records and staff personal issues
  • Liaise with the Daily Organiser on a daily basis regarding staffing that affect timetable issues
  • Be Responsible for the accurate management of staff files and record keeping
  • Support relevant Leadership staff with the personnel functions of the College including workforce planning, staff selection procedures, maintenance of personnel records and payroll functions and workcover
  • Coordinate the selection process ensuring merit and equity maintained
  • Provide up to date information to staff in regard to conditions of employment for all staff
  • Be Responsible for providing advice in respect to relevant awards and conditions, superannuation requirements, leave entitlements and responsibilities of school employees
  • Liaise with wellbeing staff regarding staff wellbeing
  • Undertake a range of research tasks and investigations as required relating to personnel
  • Provide advice to the Principal and Leadership Team in relation to the employment of personnel
  • Advise the Principal/Leadership Team on issues relating to personnel
  • Set up processes that will support the effectiveness of communication to all staff in relation to personnel issues
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, leaders, students and the general public.
  • Perform duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner in accordance with the College Values, the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct and all local policies and codes of conduct.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures and staff policies and protocols.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

Location Profile

Located in the Southeast growth corridor, the College opened in 2002. The school now has more than 2,500 students who are supported by a Teaching and Education Support staff of approximately of 350. The College¿s Leadership consists of 9 Principal Class Officers and 35 Middle Tier Leaders (LS/LT). There are 40 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the College. There are 780+ EAL student enrolments across the College. We have a significant number of funded students in the Program for Students with Disabilities. The school is a welcoming place where students from many cultures learn together in outstanding facilities.
The College is led by an Acting Principal who along with the Principal Class Officers is supported by a Senior Administrative Team.
In addition, to reflect the Department of Education¿s move to the Disability Inclusion Process (DIP), the College has appointed a DIP Coordinator established at the AP1 level. The position reports directly to the Head of Wellbeing and Inclusion. Further, the College has built an exceptional team of Multi-Cultural Engagement and Inclusion Assistants who comfortably work alongside the PCO, Teachers, students, and their families.
The College is categorized as low compared to other State schools in socio-economic terms. The school family occupation and education (SFOE) index being set at 0.583. To support our families and their children, the College has a sophisticated Wellbeing Team who reports to the Head of Wellbeing and Inclusion. Our programs are underpinned by an eclectic array of NGO¿s, Department of Education¿s Doctors in Schools, Allied Health Services, and Community Programs such as State School Relief and Foodbank. In 2024, the College has embarked upon a partnership with Monash Health. This partnership sees a Paediatrician and a Paediatric Fellow onsite weekly.
