About the role:

We are looking for an innovative, skilled and committed Social Worker, Psychologist or Counsellor to deliver NSW Health Sexual Assault and Child Protection Counselling Services to communities across Inverell, Tingha, Glen Innes, Warialda and Tenterfield.

The integrated Violence, Abuse and Neglect Team consists of a Lead, Senior Clinician and Clinician. The Lead position is suited to a senior clinician who uses their leadership skills and experiences to provide day to day direction for the iVAN team and ensures that services are delivered in a timely, high quality, culturally safe and equitable way and provides counselling and advocacy for children, young people, adults and families who are surviving or have survived violence, abuse and neglect.

You will be well assisted in this role with both training and support from the Inverell Community Health Manager, and the Violence, Abuse and Neglect Clinical Co-ordinator. You will be well connected with peers in similar roles throughout the district and clinical and cultural supervision will be regularly provided.

About you:


  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage meaningfully with children, young people, adults and community members representing diverse cultures, abilities, sexual orientation and socio-economic status;
  • Knowledge and skills in conducting psycho-social and risk assessments, effective safety planning, case co-ordination and advocacy with clients and the service system
  • Well-developed knowledge of, or willingness to learn, legislation, policy and contemporary frameworks that guide identification and intervention in relation to violence, abuse and neglect
  • Skills in working clinically with Aboriginal families informed by cultural knowledge and protocols
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and creative in clinical practice and engaging with communities to enhance responses to violence, abuse and neglect
  • Excellent skills in forming effective and collaborative working relationships with clients, colleagues and other service providers.


Requirements:


  • Must hold a qualification: Psychology, Social Work, Counsellor which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • The knowledge, skills and experience to meet the requirements of a Level 4 Allied Health Clinician.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence and ability to travel as part of the role within an outreach capacity.

  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
