About the Role
As a Claims Specialist in Swiss Re’s Life & Health ANZ Claims team, you will deliver market-leading claims management services that strengthen client relationships, support portfolio profitability, and enhance industry practice. The role balances technical claims expertise with a client-focused mindset, requiring proactive engagement with clients, customers, and internal stakeholders across Australia, New Zealand, and globally.
Main role responsibilities:
- Strengthen client partnerships: Build deeper client relationships through tailored engagement plans, embedding consistent, best-practice claims management.
- Proactively manage claims: Oversee L&H client portfolios across all lines of business, ensuring decisions align with treaty terms, policy guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Turn insights into impact: Use claims data and expertise to identify trends, support new business opportunities, and guide product development.
- Share knowledge and expertise: Deliver services such as training, audits, complex case consulting, and process improvements to strengthen client capabilities.
- Stay ahead of risk: Analyse claims and market data to identify emerging risks and opportunities, contributing to stronger risk management strategies.
- Apply technical excellence: Ensure all assessments and claim adjudications are rigorous, consistent, and compliant with regulatory frameworks and legislative requirements.
- Deliver client-focused solutions: Develop and provide services aligned to client strategies and Swiss Re’s claims vision, ensuring measurable impact.
- Engage across Swiss Re: Collaborate with colleagues in L&H Underwriting, Pricing, Valuation, Client Markets, and Solutions to influence outcomes and drive value.

About You
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative claims professional who can balance technical decision-making with client service excellence.
Educational background and experience:
- Significant technical expertise in life insurance claims, ideally across all retail and group insurance products in the Australia and New Zealand market.
- Minimum 5 years’ insurance/reinsurance claims assessment experience, with peer or industry recognition advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of the Australia and New Zealand insurance landscape, products, and regulatory environment.
- Proven success in managing stakeholder relationships, influencing best-practice outcomes, and delivering client-facing services.
- Experience in dispute resolution processes and rehabilitation/return-to-work in disability claims.
- Desirable: Familiarity with claims technology (automation, workflow tools, triage systems) and/or data analytics for insights and portfolio management.
- Relevant tertiary degree and/or evidence of continuous professional development, including ALUCA CPD accreditation.
