The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role will be responsible for assisting in the planning, analysis, and management of a broad range of indirect spend categories within the James Hardie business.
What you’ll do
- Ownership of the “Indirect” categories (including, but not limited to, spend areas associated with Marketing, I.T., Labour Hire, Travel, Fleet, etc).
- Develop, execute, and maintain a comprehensive category strategy capable of delivering best value in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders – internally as a business partner with other functions to ensure alignment in strategies and execution of annual priorities and longer-term growth initiatives; as well as externally, as part of negotiations and contract management with suppliers.
- Provide category analysis, insight and support to internal stakeholders and provide category representation at James Hardie meetings.
- Pursue continuous improvement in assigned categories by uncovering hidden areas of underperformance to drive cost improvements and increase profitability.
- Ensure that all vendors are operating in compliance with the James Hardie Procurement policy
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or related field with strong academic results
- Procurement qualifications (e.g. MCIPS) are desirable but not mandatory
- 5+ years’ experience in a procurement role
- 2+ years’ of experience working with “Indirect Procurement” categories
- Knowledge of procurement methodologies with an ability to deliver best value for money results
- SAP experience would be ideal but not mandatory
- Ability to build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Detail orientated with a strong sense of urgency
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations
